Miniaturization of metamaterial for MHz-band WPT systems
Yutaro Shibata, Takuji Arima (Tokyo Noko Univ.) AP2022-194
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In some cases, a metallic baseplate is installed on the antenna to improve the transmission efficiency of wireless power transmission (WPT), which is now being put to practical use. In this case, the distance between the radiating element and the baseplate needs to be λ/4, but it is thought that this restriction can be avoided by substituting an EBG structure, which is a kind of metamaterial, for the metal plate of the baseplate. However, the size of the EBG structure becomes very large in the MHz band, one of the frequency bands used in the WPT, and its practicality is reduced. Therefore, in this paper, we investigate the miniaturization of the EBG structure from the equivalent circuit and show that the EBG is effective in making the WPT antenna thinner even in the 13.56 MHz band. In this study, electromagnetic field analysis by the FDTD method is used.
