FDTD analysis of a plasmonic grating coupler

(in English) We analyze a plasmonic grating coupler at optical frequencies, considering the angle of incidence and the shape of dielectric material using the finite-difference time-domain method. First, we evaluate the behavior and the propagation direction of the coupled field on the metal surface with rectangular dielectrics at normal and oblique incidence. At normal incidence, it is shown that the field propagates in the $pm{x}$ direction on the metal surface. At oblique incidence, on the other hand, it is confirmed that the field propagates only in the $-x$ direction on the metal surface. In addition, we investigate the grating with trapezoid dielectrics at normal incidence. It is found that the field propagates only in the $-x$ direction on the metal surface even at normal incidence.
