In this study, we propose a bidirectional absorptive common-mode filter(A-CMF) with ultrawideband characteristics by using a defected ground structure(DGS) that suppresses the influence on differential-mode(DM). It is difficult to suppress the common-mode(CM) at high frequencies and in a wide bandwidth while suppressing the influence on the DM, and in particular, a CMF that can be applied to frequency bands above 15 GHz has not been studied so far. In addition, an A-CMF that consumes the CM power in the filter, rather than a reflective CMF that returns the CM waves to the input side, has begun to be considered in recent years. Therefore, we propose a new structure that suppresses the influence on DM around 20 GHz by modifying the DGS that has been studied so far. The effectiveness of the proposed structure as an A-CMF is demonstrated by combining the proposed structure with a DGS that has a very different resonant frequency and is loaded with a resistor. Furthermore, by combining several DGSs with different resonance frequencies, an ultrawideband bidirectional A-CMF with 10 dB attenuation of CM and less than 1 dB attenuation of DM over a wide frequency band from 2.5 GHz to 20 GHz was designed, evaluated, and compared with previous studies. |
