A real-time shot noise reduction system for 4K/8K ultra-high definition cameras is developed, which incorporates the existing Skellam MRSO (minimum risk shrinkage operator; a high-performance and fast denoising method using Haar-wavelet transform and Skellam analysis) into an FPGA (field-programmable gate array) device. Adding pipeline processing technique, memory usage reduction and shrinkage adjustment function to the device, shot noise reduction of 4K/59.94 fps monochrome video with less than one frame latency is achieved. |
