Towards the Beyond 5G/6G, the “virtualized terminal” system is studied. In the virtualized terminal system, a user terminal is connected to multiple peripheral devices on SISO transmission with frequency division multiplexing over terahertz radio wave and the peripheral devices are further connected to a base station on MIMO transmission over millimeter radio wave. In such a high frequency as the millimeter or terahertz radio wave, a phase noise causes the degradation of link performance in communication systems. In the virtualized terminal system, the phase noise in the peripheral devices dominantly affects the whole system due to using the terahertz radio wave. In addition, the phase noise in each peripheral device is generated independently because of location separation. Considering effects of the phase noise for MIMO transmission, a difference is found between the phase noise in MIMO transmission side and that in MIMO receiver side. In this paper, we investigate the effect of phase noise for the virtualized terminal with MIMO and compensation methods for a common phase error caused by the phase noise considering PT-RS based on 3GPP NR specification. In addition, we evaluate the compensation methods suitable for uplink or downlink. |
