Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Heavy flooding, mud and rock slide, snowstorm and earthquake as well as the grate earthquake repeatedly cause massive unforeseeable disasters in recent years. Communication breakdowns in those situations amplify damages. Various advanced disaster prevention systems have already developed such as earthquake prediction networks, emergency mobile base-stations and emergency satellite terminals. However, systems by general purpose devices with little energy consumption — not by special purpose equipment— are more efficient for pervasive prevention against unpredictable natural disasters. On another front, people find devices with high-performance processing functions all around us in global trend of IoT. Various kinds of multihop networks developed in information and communication laboratory (Tanaka Lab.) consist of those familiar devices so that the multihops are very appropriate for daily human / industrial activities as well as disaster prevision. Implemented real-time distributed shared memory (DSM) can provide sustainable information sharing environment, being enhanced nationwide via Mobile SINET. Environmental sensor data, GPS data and memory address of the DSM associated with each other achieve increased effectiveness of information use in disaster. High resolution stream communications support grasping surrounding situations and multihop linked group mobile devices such as drones and small robots enhance communication reachable area. Wide range applications from disaster prevision to smart city can be deployed with our sustainable real-time information sharing system.
