In digital coherent receivers, it is necessary to estimate and compensate for the carrier frequency offset (CFO) caused by the wavelength mismatch between the carrier signal and the local oscillator. We have proposed a CFO estimation method in the eigenvalue-domain for demodulation of optical eigenvalue modulation signals. In this paper, we experimentally investigate the estimation accuracy of the eigenvalue-domain CFO estimation method and discuss the limiting factors of the estimation accuracy in the experimental environment. |
