Transient response of the circuit shape waveguide was analyzed with the FDTD method. The waveguide was composed of the right- and left-handed waveguides. Although the conventional circuit shape right-handed waveguide has advantage in melting snow over a large area by using one power source, there exists a problem that the symmetrically generated electromagnetic waves from the feeding point cancel out or collide at half the circumference, resulting in a decrease in efficiency. An incorporation of the left-handed waveguide to align the propagation direction of the electromagnetic waves has been proposed to solve the problem. The left-hand and right-hand waveguides are in the straight sections of the circuit shape waveguide, respectively. The transient response of the proposed waveguide is visualized by the electromagnetic field animation. The analysis results demonstrate that the proposed structure successfully achieves to make the electromagnetic waves within the waveguide almost the same direction. |
