A Study on High Gain Millimeter Wave Band Lens Antenna Considering Application to Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN)
Genma Hattori, Issei Watanabe, Yuta Horie (MWF) SAT2022-68
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Dielectric lens antennas have been proposed for a lot of applications, for example, material evaluation, sensing technologies such as radar, and so on. In recent years, extension of the communication area is expected in the area where is not only ground but sea, air, space, and so on in the Beyond 5G/6G, the next-generation wireless communication system, so research and development of realizing Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) become more active. NTN with broadband millimeter wave can provide high-speed, large-capacity, and low-latency communications for many applications, but it requires high-gain antennas because of the large propagation loss of millimeter wave. In this study, we focused on the lens antenna as a high-gain antenna, and then, report the F/D ratio optimization and the comparative study of the lens shapes.
