The LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) is a type of LPWAN communication protocol that is gaining attention due to its use of license-free frequency bands and the ability to construct private networks with open source technology.
In LoRaWAN, devices communicate with a gateway (GW) and connect to the network through the GW. When multiple devices are connected to a single GW, they may send packets simultaneously, which may cause packet collisions and prevent the GW from receiving data correctly.
In this paper, we extend the method of learning the status of past transmissions using ACK by reinforcement learning, and propose a method in which only some terminals send packets that require ACK based on the distance between the terminal and GW, and showed that the packet reception rate (PDR) of certain terminals can be improved.
To evaluate the proposed method, we simulate a LoRaWAN network using the NS-3 network simulator and measure the network's performance in terms of PDR. |
