Most of the previous studies utilizing physiological data have investigated the effects on users' behavior, psychology, and physiology when users are presented with overt auditory or visual stimuli. On the other hand, recent studies have shown that users' behavior, psychology, and physiology can also be affected by the presentation of latent (unconscious, unaware) stimuli. In this study, we focused on visual information that can be easily manipulated in a VR environment, and investigated the effects of latent color stimuli based on the user's heart rate on the user's sense of immersion during a VR game from the physiological and psychological aspects. The results showed that latent color stimuli had an effect on physiological indices to increase the user's concentration, but had no effect on psychological indices to increase the user's sense of immersion. Therefore, it was found that physiological and psychological indices did not necessarily coincide. As for physiological indices, there were significant trends and differences in nasal skin temperature )(an index of sympathetic nervous system and electrocardiogram (an index of stress state), indicating a certain degree of consistency. |
