[Invited Talk] Terahertz Surface-Wave Resonators for Functional Devices

(in English) Terahertz frequencies have been gaining increasing interest in next-generation wireless communications. Here we focus on a bull’s eye structure using surface-plasmon phenomena in the spectral range extending from optical to terahertz-wave and microwave regions. This device consists of a subwavelength aperture and circular surface grating, which creates focused beams beyond the diffraction limit at the resonant frequency determined from the grating period. Using the finite-element analysis, we describe the design and broad-band operations of the single device of the bull’s eye structure. We also describe a novel directional coupling device based on spin-momentum locking, which consists of a bull’s eye and metallic waveguides.
