Virtual Network Embedding Method for Improving Wireless Network Resource Utilization Efficiency

(in English) Embedding a virtual network into an underlying network with physical media is an important issue to realize the allocation of communication resources in network virtualization. This issue is called Virtual Network Embedding (VNE) and has been extensively studied mainly in the wired network domain. On the other hand, VNE for wireless networks has not been thoroughly studied since wireless networks often become a heterogeneous environment and are required to accommodate a variety of communications and services, and they also have a variety of access technologies depending on their propagation and attenuation characteristics. However, the need for efficient use of network resources has led to recent studies on VNE according to the development of the wide variety of communications in wireless networks. A conventional study proposed a VNE algorithm that takes three types of QoS for virtual resources into account to realize VNE in wireless networks. In this study, we introduce a hybrid approach of guaranteed and best-effort VNE algorithms to improve the request acceptance rate of virtual resources and the utilization efficiency of underlying network resources. We also introduce a virtual resource reallocation function to the VNE algorithm in the conventional study for adapting to changes in the attributes such as delay/reliability of wireless links, bandwidth fluctuations of the underlying links, and link breakages. The performance evaluation results show that the proposed algorithm improves the request acceptance rate compared to the conventional study.
