A study of the encoding runtime reduction for CU partition with intra prediction information in VVC

(in English) Versatile Video Coding (VVC) introduced quad tree with nested multi-type tree (QTMT).
The QTMT allows to divide coding tree unit (CTU) into coding unit (CU) of various shapes and sizes. It improves coding performance but increases encoding runtime.
In this paper, we analysed intra prediction mode and its prediction error with Light Gradient Boosting Machine (LightGBM) as a preliminary experiment. Based on this analysis, we proposed encoding runtime reduction using intra prediction mode and its prediction error. The experimental result shows that the proposed method reduces the encoding runtime by 31.34$%$ and increases BD-rate by 1.37$%$.
