| (in English) | The Tokaido Shinkansen uses digital LCX train radio for communication between control center and train crews. We have been developing a millimeter-wave train radio system that enables faster and larger capacity communication. We have recently succeeded in its practical application and decided to install the millimeter-wave train radio system on all lines of the Tokaido Shinkansen. This paper first describes the functions and system configuration required for train radio equipment in highspeed railway, and then reports on a high-gain method to prevent heavy rainfall and the results of running tests. | |
