[Tutorial Lecture] Underdetermined Direction-Of-Arrival Estimation by Sparse Arrays -- Array Configuration Optimization for Enhancing Degree of Freedom --

(in English) This paper introduces various sparse array configurations, and shows that underdetermined (more number of sources than the number of array elements) direction of arrival (DOA) estimation becomes possible. Starting from early sparse array configurations like minimum redundancy array (MRA), co-prime array and nested array. Also, various state-of-the-art configurations which realizes high degree of freedom are introduced. Moreover, DOA estimation accuracy, degree of freedom, coupling leakage of sparse arrays are also evaluated.
