Control of the interface between organic layer / electrode in organic photovoltaic cells (OPVs) is of crucial importance for the improvement of the performance. Therefore, development of new interlayer materials and new methods for the preparation of their thin films are required. In this study, a new method for the preparation of a cathode interlayer material (CIM), magnesium oxide (MgO), by using a thermite reaction of molybdenum oxide with thermally-deposited magnesium was proposed. The use of the MgO-CIM in OPVs reduces the series resistances and improves fill factors and open-circuit voltages, thus improves the power conversion efficiencies. |
