A wavelet transform is a widely used type of frequency conversion that analyzes changes in frequency and space-time information. Since the shape of the mother wavelet for analysis is the same for small and large changes, its response is extreme at places with extreme signal changes, such as the edges of an image signal. Therefore, it is not suitable for processing such as switching according to signal strength at edges, etc. In this study, we address this problem by using a local contrast transform based on the intensity of the input signal and by changing the signal processing method depending on the luminance value of the signal as well. The basic idea is to perform a contrast transform of the image luminance values for each pixel, wavelet transform the contrast-transformed image, perform various processing, and assign the processed value to each corresponding pixel. To accelerate this calculation, in this paper, the contrast transformation function is Fourier transformed and frequency transformed in the direction of luminance values to reduce high frequencies, thus greatly reducing the number of candidates for contrast transformation. The process is then realized by applying processing using wavelet transforms to the small number of candidates. |
