This paper focuses on an authentication of a legitimate transmitter over multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels with spatio-temporal correlations and proposes a novel physical-layer authentication (PLA) method based on Mahalanobis distance. The proposed method utilizes not only the correlations between antennas but also multiple time slots to detect an attacker with high accuracy. Additionally, the detection probability and false alarm probability of the proposed method are theoretically analyzed, providing an optimum threshold design. Computer simulations demonstrate that the proposed method can detect an attacker with a higher probability than conventional method, given a fixed false alarm probability. |
