A Study on Blind Self-Interference Canceller with Adaptive Differential Delay for IBFD in Frequency-Selective Fading Channels

(in English) Self Interference (SI) cancellation is essential to realize in-band full duplex (IBFD) communications.
As a method of the SI cancellation, active SI canceller (ASIC) has been proposed, in which a replica of the SI signal is generated and subtracted from the received signal.
However, the replica generation requires accurate and periodic CSI (Channel State Information) estimation, which is inefficient in wireless Internet of things (IoT) communication scenarios where communication requests occur randomly.
To address this problem, differential analog self interference canceller (DASIC) without requiring prior CSI estimation of SI has been proposed. However, due to the effects of delayed waves, SI cannot be completely eliminated in frequency-selective fading channels. This paper proposes a method to blindly remove the residual SI component by adaptively controlling the interval of differential delay that can be set in the DASIC algorithm according to the appearance pattern of its own transmission signal, and evaluates the effectiveness in terms of the of the bit error rate (BER).
