The PN correlation method can estimate TOF (Time of Flight) with high accuracy in the UWB wireless system. Moreover, it can estimate the position of the signal source by combining DOA (Direction of Arrival) estimation using an array antenna. However, TOF and DOA estimation accuracy deteriorates in a multipath environment due to the mixing of multipath waves. In response, 2D-FOCUSS (2-Dimentional FOCal Underdetermined System Solver) was proposed to extract the desired wave by separating the multipath waves, and its improvement in estimation accuracy has been confirmed. Also, we presented a method that uses beamspace processing for 2D-FOCUSS preprocessing to reduce its long calculation time. In this paper, we propose a further improved method to achieve accurate TOF and DOA estimation with shorter calculation time in more multipath-wave environments. Through computer simulation, we show that the proposed method significantly reduces calculation time and improves estimation accuracy compared to the conventional method. |
