Hardware-efficient dissipative quantum error correction for squeezed cat codes

(in English) Quantum information is constantly exposed to environmental noise that causes computation errors. Researchers have
developed quantum error-correcting codes (QECCs) to combat this information degradation. While qubit-based QECCs need
many physical qubits to robustly encode a single logical qubit, bosonic QECCs can encode a logical qubit with only one or a few
bosonic modes. Bosonic codes are generally described as having either translation or rotation symmetries; the recently-proposed
squeezed-cat code has both types and hence inherits the advantages of both as well. However, the existing methods for error
correction on the squeezed-cat code require strong nonlinearity and complex couplings to auxiliary systems and are thus experimentally challenging. In this work, we propose a hardware-friendly error-correction approach for the squeezed-cat code, inspired
by dissipative error correction for the GKP code. We then numerically verify that the performance of our squeezed-cat-code
error-correction strategy can surpass that of GKP-code for a broad range of photon-loss error rates in a realistic setup.
