Various optical technologies utilizing high-speed wavelength-tunable lasers have been proposed. In such applications, the response characteristics are crucial when changing frequency due to the potential impact on system latency. Thus, a technique is required to measure high-speed and wide-range laser frequency transitions accurately. Existing measurement methods are tailored for specific scenarios, such as wide-band or high-resolution applications. Despite such advances, existing techniques struggle to track laser frequency given rapid changes over wide bands, such as the entire C-band. In this paper, we propose a novel frequency measurement method that utilizes intensity- and frequency-encoded local oscillators. The proposed method demonstrates that the use of a small number of coherent receivers enables efficient acquisition of wavelength, polarization, and phase transitions across a broad bandwidth. |
