本研究は, 2名で共食する際の食事時間が会話や雰囲気に及ぼす影響を実験的に検討した. 2名の学生ペアを対象として, 食事時間が短い条件(食事条件, 20分, N＝9組18名)と, 食事時間が長い条件(食後会話条件, 30分, N=8組16名), 会話のみ条件(会話条件, 30分, N=7組14名)の3条件(被験者間計画)を設定し, 食事・会話中の行動を映像収録するとともに, 実験後に会話の印象に関する質問を実施した. その結果, 食事がある条件では緊張感が軽減する傾向がみられ, また食後会話条件は他条件に比べ積極的に会話が進み, 自己開示を多くできたと評価した. 本研究では,共食がコミュニケーションに及ぼす役割について議論する. |

This study explores the potential value of chatting after table talk in human communication. In order to examine the effects of the presence of a meal and the duration of the mealtime on dyadic communication, we compared verbal and non-verbal interaction between participants and analyzed self-report evaluations of participants about their communication for the following three experimental conditions: (1) chatting after table-talk (CAT), in which dyadic conversations were had throughout a long mealtime (30 min), (2) only table-talk (OT), in which conversations were had throughout a short mealtime (20 min) and (3) without meal (WM), in which conversations were had without the presence of a meal (30 min). Participants under the CAT condition more often reported that their conversations were active and that they could talk about themselves than did those under the OT and WM conditions. Furthermore, participants under the CAT and OT conditions reported that they tended to be more relaxed during conversations than did those under the WM condition. These results imply that chatting after table-talk (with a meal and a long mealtime) has a positive effect on intimate conversation. |
