In this paper, a novel design method to achieve a multiband switchable RF circuit is proposed. The basic concept of the proposed design method is to use tunable shorted stubs to switch the input and output impedances of the RF circuit. Theory and practical design of a dual-band amplifier are discussed. A 0.8- and 2.0-GHz dual-band amplifier using fixed shorted stubs and a tunable shorted stub using a PIN diode are also demonstrated. Good agreement between measured and simulated performances was obtained.
