Comparison on Optimization and Calibration Methods for DTTV Propagation in Urban Area of Surattani, Southern Thailand

(in English) This paper presents the study on a competent method of the optimized and the calibrated Okumura-Hata path loss models in order to use it for the prediction of DTTV propagation in an urban area of Suratthani Province, southern Thailand through the measurement of broadcasting signal power level of two channels; CH40, the frequency of 626 MHz and CH44, the frequency of 658 MHz with the measured distance of 2-7 kilometers from the transmitted station. The optimization of a path loss model is conducted by using a least square method whereas the calibration is done by using a statistical value of root mean square error (RMSE). A competent indicator for the comparison of a model is the statistic values of relative error (RE). The RE analytical result of the new optimized Okumura-Hata path loss model shows that the RE values are lower than the calibration and the old model which indicates that the new optimized model is suitable for use in creating a predicted model and it is accurate in planning the network design.
