In this paper, we propose a selective visible light communication technique using a single light source and multiple video cameras. Based on our finding that a shutter speed of a camera works as a frequency filter of optical signals, we show that cameras having different shutter speeds can selectively and exclusively receive different carrier waves composing of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals. We conducted experiments by transmitting four carrier waves encoding symbols modulated by 4, 8 and 16 phase-shift keying (PSK), respectively, and evaluated the performance of the proposed technique in different experimental settings The selectivity of the proposed technique theoretically derived was confirmed through experimental results. |
