Single layer dual mode antennas for UHF RFID tags have been proposed by researchers. These UHF RFID tags can operate on metallic and non-metallic surfaces. The antenna operates as a microstrip antenna when it is attached to a metallic surface and operates as a dipole antenna when it is attached to a non-metallic surface. The design procedure is given for matching at only one frequency. This paper studies the frequency responses of the antennas which are designed for NXP UCODE G2XL chip on FR4 substrate. Two antennas were designed to operate at 922.5MHz and simulated for the frequency band from 800MHz to 1GHz. The transmission coefficients and the read ranges were computed and reported.
