Two dimensional recording media have been studied to achieve very high recording density. Therefore encoding schemes for these media also have been studied. In contrast to the one dimensional case, for two dimensional constraints there is no known general formula for computing capacity and here is no known general or systematic method for constructing encoders. We survey studies for two dimensional constraints in comparison with results for one dimensional constraints. |
