[Invited Talk] FUJITSU's approach to the information life cycle management

(in English) With the qualitative change and quantitative increase of data, storage capacity is growing at an annual rate of more than 60%. Even further storage growth is predicted because of the coming relaxation of regulations that allows paper documents to be stored as electronic data. Even though storage devices have been enhanced in storage capacity, much progress has not been made in long-term data storage, which is a feature required for today’s storage devices. As a technology to effectively utilize and manage such explosively growing data, information lifecycle management (ILM) is gathering a great deal of attention. We would like to explain the mechanisms of ILM and long-term data storage using ETERNUS VD800 Virtual Disk Library and ETERNUS3000 Archive Storage.
