A low-complexity algorithm for subcarrier allocation in multi-user OFDM systems

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In a single user OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) system, adaptive modulation schemes can be applied to each subcarrier according to the subcarrier gain, to enhance the system performance.
On the other hand, in a multiuser OFDM system, the adaptive modulation schemes after allocating the subcarriers to each user improve the bit rate and the bit error rate of the system.
In this paper, we propose two low-complexity algorithms that allocate the subcarriers as fairly as possible to maximize the total bit rate under a bit error rate requirement. Numerical examples are provided to compare the proposed algorithms with existing ones and to evaluate their performances.
