Estimation of clinical condition by diabetes mellitus models

Quantitative profiling of diabetes with 3 factors, impaired insulin secretion, peripheral insulin resistance and excessive hepatic glucose release, is essential for tailor-made medicine. We developed a mathematical diabetes model and applied it to quantitative profiling of the disorder by estimating the internal parameters which reproduce the real patient’s data. Parameters derived from the model indicated a certain degree of association with conventional clinical indices. In further analysis of some typical cases, the model parameters and indices reflected the disorders’ characteristic well. |
