A Parallel File Transfer Scheme for Data Grid with Dynamic File Replication
Takumi Morikawa, Harumasa Tada, Makoto Imase (Osaka Univ.)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In Data Grid, a large file can be transferred parallely from multiple sites that have a replica of the file in order to reduce transfer time. In this paper, an existing parallel downloading scheme for Internet is evaluated in Data Grid environment through simulation. The simulation results showed that some files had few replicas due to low access frequency and their transfer time was worsened when parallel transfer was applied. To solve this problem, we used multiple connections from a single site to transfer files with few replicas. The simulation results showed that multiple connections improved transfer time of files with few replicas.
