Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Minimum Description Length(MDL) criteria is generally used as model selection criteria for model construction in Bayesian Network. However, it has been pointed out that the penalty term in MDL criteria for the model complexity is too large when data is small in number compared with the number of combinations of states of the parent nodes. In this paper, we propose a modified MDL with better penalty terms and derive it based on MDL principle. We also show a plan of experimental evaluation by comparing it with a few commonly used criteria.
