A shaped beam pattern for the base station array antenna using the IMT-2000 system, for example cosecant beam pattern, is preferred because the shaped beam pattern in a service area provides enough received power and influence of interference to other areas is small. This paper proposes the formation of a beam pattern for the base station array antenna to
maximize the downlink system capacity of W-CDMA of IMT-2000 systems using a simplified method. As a result, a change in the number of upper or bottom elements from 12.5% to 37.5% produces a phase shift of 60 to 150 degrees yielding an increase of about 190% in the system capacity. |
