(in English) Recently, broadband access network is widely used, and the broadcasting service such as TV program distribution begins to be provided by the multicast method. In the broadcasting service, the form that the data stream is delivered from the broadcasting station set up on the WAN(Wide Area Network) to many users can be assumed. In the broadcasting service, the service interruption due to transmission fault is not permitted. Therefore, the fault detection means and the protection method on logical path of point to multi-point are required in WAN. Then, we report on the fault detection means and the protection method of the multicast traffic in the ring network topology frequently used in WAN.
