［特別講演］人物画像処理技術とその応用

本稿では，映像中の人物の顔や身体の検出，追跡，認証および姿勢推定などの人物画像処理技術とその応用について述べる．人物は，コンピュータビジョン領域における画像監視システムやTV番組検索において，映像の中で最も関心の高いもののひとつである．よって，古くから数多くの人物画像処理に関する研究が行われてきた．顔の検出や認証は1990年代から世界で精力的に研究が進められ，近年では，歩行者の検出や認証へ関心が高まっている．我々も1995年頃から人物に関する研究をはじめ，顔位置検出・顔認証をはじめ多くの成果をあげてきた．それらの研究の軌跡をたどりながら，技術的課題と今後の方向性を考察する． |

This paper describes human image processing technologies such as human face detection, tracking and identification as well as human body detection, tracking and pose estimation. In addition, it shows related applications, technological difficulties and future works. A human is one of most interesting objects in the computer vision research field such as surveillance and image/video retrieval systems. Many studies have been done so far. In particular, human face detection and identification have been aggressively researched since 1990’s in the world. Recently, research interests are shifting from faces to human bodies, and pedestrian detection and identification are studied well. Our research group also has been tackling researches regarding human faces and bodies since 1995 and yielded many practical results. We trace our historical researches and consider technological difficulties to specify future challenging items. |
