In a wireless mobile network with wireless multihop transmissions such as a mobile adhoc network and a wireless multihop access network, end-to-end throughput from a source mobile computer to a destination one is less than 1/3 of throughput of a wireless communication link due to random waiting time for contention avoidance and RTS/CTS control for solving a hidden terminal problem. In this paper, the authors propose an adhoc routing protocol and
a message transmission protocol with transmission power control for achieving higher end-to-end throughput. The maximum end-to-end throughput in the proposed protocols is 1/2 of throughput of a wireless communication link. If wireless multihop transmission is realized by a wireless LAN protocol with hop-by-hop acknowledgement, contentions and collisions between an acknowledgment message and a data one may occur. This paper proposes an extended routing protocol for achieving lower probability of such contentions and collisions by an additional condition among length of wireless links. |
