[Invited Talk] 10Gbps free-space laser transmission using single mode fiber based technology

(in English) The system configuration and the first result of the 10-Gbps free-space laser transmission experiment performed in January 2006 at Waseda University campus are reported. Bidirectional free-space laser beam at 1550nm wavelength have been stably and efficiently coupled into a single mode fiber using fast and accurate fine tracking system which had been developed for a Stratospheric platform test flight experiment. Single mode fiber based transceiver technology is used, such as Er-doped fiber amplifiers for both low noise amplifier at the receiver and the booster amplifier at the transmitter, to improve the sensitivity and the dynamic range of the receiver. Combining these technologies, an error free transmission for more than two hours have been demonstrated at the bit rate of 10Gbps.
