Study on Area Spectral Efficiency of Multi-channel Multihop Radio Networks

(in English) It has been revealed that lower rate transmissions and multihop transmissions have the same ability to enhance the end-to-end communication range at the loss of bandwidth efficiency. In the same way, multihop transmissions and channelization have the same effect to increase the received carrier-to-interference ratio (CIR) at the loss of throughput. In this paper, the impacts of spatial channel reuse, channelization, and multihop transmission on the area spectral efficiency of radio networks are analytically investigated. Numerical results reveal whether channelization or multihop transmission is necessary or not in order to satisfy the required throughput and density of simultaneous transmissions.
