Development of lithium polymer battery system for undulation pump ventricular assist device.

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page) 
(in English) We have developed an implantable lithium polymer battery system for driving the undulation pump left ventricular assist device(UPVAD). The battery system consists of series-connected 4 lithium polymer batteries, its charger, a monitor and a power interface. The battery system was evaluated in in-vitro and in vivo experiments. The battery system was able to drive the UPVAD in in vivo and no scars was observed at the tissue at the autopsy.
