We have developed an implantable lithium polymer battery system for driving the undulation pump left ventricular assist device(UPVAD). The battery system consists of series-connected 4 lithium polymer batteries, its charger, a monitor and a power interface. The battery system was evaluated in in-vitro and in vivo experiments. The battery system was able to drive the UPVAD in in vivo and no scars was observed at the tissue at the autopsy. |
