All-optical switching node is an ideal solution for next generation wavelength-division-multiplexing network. All-optical wavelength conversion is a key technology to construct the efficient network. We have developed the wavelength converter module operating up to 40Gbit/s NRZ. Semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOA), Mach-Zehnder Interferometer, and transparent passive waveguides are monolithically integrated on InP substrate. The active layer of SOA has been well en-gineered for fast gain recovery. Moreover, two-lens optics converts the optical beams from the fiber array with small excess loss and small size. |
