MAP Signal Detecting Using Adapitive Channel Estimation Based on BCJR Algorithm
Songyan Wang, Kazuhiko Fukawa, Hiroshi Suzuki (TITech) RCS2006-70
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This report theoretically derives joint processing of the maximum a posteriori (MAP) signal detection with channel estimation by the Kalman filter or the LMS algorithm, for a single-carrier mobile communication on frequency-selective fast fading channels. The proposed receiver consists of (i) a MAP equalizer that jointly performs channel estimation and equalization, and (ii) a MAP decoder for a channel coding. They provide each other with {\it a priori} Log-Likelihood Ratio (LLR) and {\it a posteriori} LLR of coded bits by iterative processing in order to enhance reliability of the signal detection. To track the fast fading fluctuation, the MAP equalizer estimates the channel impulse responses for every state by the Kalman filter or the LMS algorithm, and then calculates LLR of the coded bits by the Max-Log-MAP algorithm upon the basis of the BCJR algorithms. Computer simulations under a fast multipath fading condition demonstrate that the proposed scheme is much superior in BER performance to conventional ones employing the soft or hard decision feedback channel estimation.
