An Information-Spectrum Approach to Steganography

A model of information-theoretic steganography is proposed by Cachin.
In Cachin's model, covertexts are assumed to be outputs of a memoryless source.
In this paper, we extend the Cachin's model to the case where covertexts are outputs of a general source. We take an information-spectrum approach and evaluate the maximum rate of embedded messages such that an adversary cannot distinguish stegotexts with covertexts.
In our model we require that both the decoding error probability and the variational distance between covertexts and stegotexts asymptotically vanish.
We prove that the maximum achievable rate of embedded messages is
equal to the spectrum-inf entropy rate ${\underline H} ({\bf X})$ of a general source ${\bf X}$. |
