Analysis of plane wave scattering characteristics of three-dimensional doubly periodic structures using hybrid Trefftz finite element method

(in English) Plane wave scattering characteristics of three-dimensional doubly periodic structures are analyzed by a hybrid Trefftz finite element method. In this method, homogeneous regions are divided by Trefftz finite elements. Because interpolating functions of Trefftz finite elements satisfy the governing equation, a functional for the Trefftz finite element can be estimated by integration on the surface of the element. Therefore we expect that substituting Trefftz elements for conventional elements reduces the total number of unknowns in the matrix equations. We analyzed plane wave scattering characteristics of frequency selective surface and photonic crystal and confirmed the validity of this method.
