An effect of individualization of interaural level difference in sound localization

Individualization of Head-Related Transfer Functions (HRTFs) is important for high-accuracy sound localization systems such as a virtual auditory display. To avoid the burden of direct measurement of HRTFs, a method to predict Interaural Level Difference (ILD) from listener’s anthropometry is investigated in this paper.
The relationship between ILDs and the anthropometric parameters is analyzed by multiple regression analysis. To evaluate the effectiveness, a psychoacoustical experiment is carried out. The experimental result shows that the adjustment of the ILDs for each listener with the proposed method is effective for front-back confusion. |
