Fabrication of an ultranarrow band fiber Bragg grating filter with a 1.3 GHz bandwidth

(in English) Various applications of fiber Bragg gratings have been proposed, such as fiber-type narrow band filters or gain-flattening filters for EDFA. We have successfully fabricated an ultranarrow band FBG filter with a linewidth of 1.3 GHz by using a 15 cm-long polarization-maintaining fiber. In this paper, we describe the details of the fabrication of the FBG and its characteristics. The maximum reflectance and side lobe suppression of the FBG were 65 % and 13 dB, respectively.
