This paper presents a simple but effective method for calibrating a bronchoscope camera without using any special devices for camera calibration. First of all, we take many images of a planar dot-patterns at different angles by moving a bronchoscope camera freehand. Then, feature points are detected from the captured images automatically. Using the correspondence of these points between different images, camera parameters are estimated by Zhang’s calibration technique. We applied the proposed method to a bronchoscope camera. The experimental
results showed that reprojection error was about 0.8 pixels, and our method could estimate camera parameters stably as the number of images of the planar pattern increased. |
