Two types of band-rejection filters are available: one with an electrically coupled half-wave resonator, and the other with a magnetically coupled half-wave resonator. These types as well as other rejection filters require many resonators, and each resonator must be separated by a quarter-wave length to induce sharp rejection characteristics. Thus, it is difficult to miniaturize these filters. Dewa et al. reported a narrow-band band-rejection filter in which loop resonators were coupled in a distributed manner. However, they did not analyze the filter characteristics in detail. In this article, we analyze a band-rejection filter in which loop resonators are coupled in a distributed manner to the transmission line using a transmission line model, and we obtain the relationship between the attenuation frequencies and characteristic impedance of the loop resonator. In addition, on the basis of the characteristics impedance of the loop resonator, we demonstrate by analysis and experiments that two rejection frequencies can be produced at locations symmetrical to a design frequency and that these two rejection frequencies can be produced only at these locations. |
