Characteristic of Deterministic Resonance in Simple Chaotic Systems
Haruhiko Nishimura, Sou Nobukawa, Naofumi Katada (Univ. of Hyogo)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Stochastic resonance(SR) is known as a phenomenon in which the presence of noise helps a nonlinear system in amplifying a weak(under barrier)signal. In this paper, on the contrary, we examine the deterministic resonance phenomenon shown by a noise-free chaotic nonlinear system. As a result of detailed analysis on the one-dimensional discrete cubic map, its high sensitivity to weak external signals is confirmed. This characteristic appears under the noise-free condition and is much different from the stochastic resonance under the white noise.
